Origins - Festival of First Nations
The Origins Concert - (Sat 2 July, 8pm, Rich Mix, Bethnal Green Road E1)
For lovers of world music, a musical voyage around the globe from Gaelic song to Māori funk!
Get lost in the spell-binding voices of The London Gaelic Choir, the seductive harmonies and gentle acoustic rhythms of
The Lani Singers from West Papua, the warm folk rock of Simon Lynge from Greenland, the buoyant sounds of Beats of Polynesia,
the haunting Native American flute music of Grammy nominee Kelvin Mockingbird and the unique performance style of Inuk throat
singers Ann-Marie Aitchison and Leah May. Bringing the evening to a rousing finale,
fresh from Glastonbury, sensational Māori soul/funk diva Bella Kalolo.
Sample some traditional specialities of Polynesian cuisine prepared by Māori chef Joylene Fenikowski.
